Blackout Poetry Slam
Celebrate Teens Read Month
Thursday, October 16
6:00pm - 7:30pm
Zarrow Regional Library
South Meeting RoomCelebrate Teens Read Month at our pop-up poetry café! Make poetry from old book pages, then take the mic and share your work — or just chill with a snack and listen. No pressure, all creativity.
We’re bringing the full slam experience — cozy tables, café-style snacks, smooth ambiance and even a set of bongos to keep the beat. Blackout poetry is a playful, visual style of writing where you take a page from an old book and “black out” most of the words, leaving only the ones you choose to form a brand-new poem. When you're ready, step up to the mic and share your creation — or just relax, enjoy a snack and listen to others.
Whether you’re a seasoned poet or just curious to try something new, there’s no pressure, only creativity. All supplies are provided.
