Share the history and traditions of North America's native people. The free festival celebrates the contributions of American Indians through enlightening family programs.
The highlight of the festival is the Festival of Words American Indian Writers Award presentation. Laura Tohe, poet, writer, librettist, scholar of indigenous American literature and Navajo Nation poet laureate, will receive the award at 10:30 a.m. The festival also features native culture make-and-take crafts and demonstrations, performance by the Otoe singers, traditional American Indian dance exhibition, plus the Fifth Annual Preserving Our Tribal Languages Forum. Sponsored by Tulsa City-County Library's American Indian Resource Center, Tulsa Library Trust, The Maxine and Jack Zarrow Family Foundation, Dr. Frank and Mary Shaw, Friends of the Helmerich Library, Greater Tulsa Area Indian Affairs Commission, Tulsa Indian Community Foundation, and Visions and Voices.
